Post about RACE 1

This room is darker. Lights only lighten the panels and photographs hanging on the wall.
A chronic illness can affect every aspect of someone’s life. This space is an exploration of pain and word, image, video, and installation engage with its different forms.
Every wall reads a different word in big letters: physical, psichological, social, spiritual.
There isn’t a precise order in which to look at the walls, as to give the impression that everything in this room is happening simoultaneously or it’s all part of the same experience.
Pain is like a high-pitched sound that stirs your deepest bowels. But what happens if you listen long enough? What happens if, one day, it suddenly stops? You feel, almost, as if something is wrong. And when it returns, you breathe a sigh of relief.
Diary pages (and supportive writing) explore the paradox of one’s relationship to chronic pain.
